• Jimmy Lai to learn his fate after the weekend.
• SecDev Linn says new powers for the Buildings Dept will allow construction sites to cease work immediately if falsified/incorrect permits exist.
The new laws will require scaffolding mesh to be tested here in Hong Kong, which the Secretary admitted will slow things down to start with, as there really isn’t any labs to do such testing atm.
Under the new system, the Construction Industry Council will be in charge of mesh procurement, with construction companies purchasing from a centralised system. This also will slow things down at first.
