• International police are closing the net on a company alleged to be behind many of the scam centres running out of Cambodia.
Last Friday Singapore police froze S$115 million worth of assets.
• The latest rankings from IMD on digital competitiveness are out, and Hong Kong is up three places this year, just as we were last year.
Singapore dropped two spots to 3rd, if anyone was wondering.
• After the big Black Rain Storm of September 2023, landslides in the very posh neighbourhood of Redhill Peninsula uncovered a litany of illegal additions to properties.
The government is slowly working through all the prosecutions, with 18 now being convicted, including the latest slapped with a $110k fine.
• From January 25th next year, if you’re sitting on a bus, whether it be KMB, CityBus, New Lantao Bus, a GMB or a Red one, wearing a seatbelt will be required.
• A novel (and rather lazy) attempt at phishing came through my inbox on Tuesday, with “eTollHK” asking me to click buttons and give up my data.
English was an interesting choice even if they got HKeToll wrong, but joke’s on your scammer; I’m too poor to own a car*.
* I’m actually too poor to own a car park space, let alone a car. Such is life in Hong Kong…
