1. One constant complaint in Hong Kong is directed at landlords, specifically those of retail spaces, who keep rents artificially high to maintain the property value, even if it means leaving the premises vacant.
But as the Marks & Spencer lease renewal in Central has shown, some landlords are willing to bend to market forces to keep their clients happy.
2. HK Express is kickin’ it ol’ skool in August, starting flights between Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, but with a twist; landing at Subang Airport.
Pro: Land near city centre, skip the 2hr commute from KLIA
Con: Awful departure/arrival times; Subang Airport ain’t no KLIA
3. As is the way with diplomatic postings, every 3 years we have to say goodbye to them. German Consul-General Stefan Bredohl and Deputy Consul Stefanie Seedig are off to Türkiye, and Ming Pao reports US Consul-General Gregory May is being moved to Beijing.

4. First we had the “water is leaking from your apartment” SMS scam, and now it seems to have morphed into “you parked in my spot” scam.
As far as I can gather, this is a similar scam to the “mistaken” message that someone is at the airport and is waiting for you. The concept is you say you have the wrong person, then they engage you with an apology and a phishing expedition.
Just don’t reply. Your management office isn’t going to give out your phone number.
5. Tropical Storm Wutip update: Still not going to hit us, gonna be wet.
6. In sport, registrations for this year’s Streetathon have now opened.
Fun fact: This year’s route will involve the Central Kowloon Route (Yau Ma Tei Section) between Route 3 & Kowloon Bay which has yet to officially open.
7. And to end, a big name from Australian racing is joining the Hong Kong season next year.
