Hospital under fire for patient data leak.
Hospital contractor arrested after nurses credit card details stolen.
Depression and anxiety rife amongst teens.
And official dates announced for the 2026 HK Rugby 7s!
NEWS
• TKO Hospital has had a data breach reported to police, with a consultant and an associate consultant from the department of surgery arrested on Sunday.
Local media are reporting that the information leaked was to the family of a patient who died during surgery at the hospital, suggesting that the surgeon involved had similar incidents in the past.
Via The Standard: The case came to light following the death of a female terminal pancreatic cancer patient in February after undergoing an endoscopic ultrasound-guided procedure at the hospital.
Her son subsequently received anonymous phone calls and multiple letters signed by a "concerned person." These communications included detailed medical records of his mother and other patients and made several allegations against the operating surgeon. The son later filed a complaint with TVB's news program "Scoop."
At the press conference on Monday, the hospital administration didn’t confirm or deny the media reports, but did say that there is an internal system for reporting, and no complaints had been lodged.
“The hospital will not tolerate staff accessing patients’ information for unauthorised non-clinical purposes and improperly disclosing patients’ information to third parties.”
👀 Watch this space, as I have a feeling the story has more to it. With the arrests, and possible charges, it will mean a court case and all the details will come to light.
